Loud, sensitive, and very tightly gapped, the Traditional High Morchang is hand forged by Master Mohan of Rajasthan. Its stiff reed belts out high pitched Morchang sound that cuts the air like a knife.

For Morchang enthusiasts, the offerings of master Mohan provide some of the loudest and most sensitive harps in the Morchang style. The stiff reed and well designed trigger flies through fast play and percussives, as well as open close glottis play! When practicing a traditional Rajasthani style, one will find themselves a vibration that would be difficult to replicate with other instruments. A noted difference may be present as Morchang favor an inward plucking style.

Not recommended for beginners due to the stiff reed and ridiculously tight gaps, but those who are avid Morchang Players will hold these in high regard. Learning the open/close glottis discipline is a must for this instrument and may require a higher skill level than other harps. The Traditional High are tuned by ear from Mohan and may not fall on a typical western note. They are above C3# and higher and can be tuned to the nearest whole note by choosing our “Permanent Tuning Service” from our Shop!

Due to the hand forged nature of the Morchang the appearance, pitch, and sound may vary slightly resulting in each Morchang being a unique harp.
